It’s hump day! Josh and I made it back to Lubbock last night and I instantly unpacked, showered, washed my hair, and got in bed haha. Today I start work FULL-TIME. I know that’s not really a big deal but it’s something that’s going to take a lot of time getting used to. In a way, I think I’ll adjust fast since I’ve always juggled school full-time, a job part-time, and my blog full-time. But, being in school, I always had a choice whether to go to class and I had periods of breaks where I could run errands, nap, answer blog emails, etc.
Now, I’ll be working 8-5 everyday and have to re-adjust my schedule around that. I’m excited for some every day balance though. Since Josh and I have been in Hawaii, I’ve been praying and thinking about what I want this next chapter of my life to look like. It’s such a fun time, and I’m only 21 so life is really just getting started. I created some 2018 goals for myself but I wanted to do a little soul searching and create some new healthy lifestyle habits for myself.
Not gonna lie, this past year of college was all over the place. I was waking up at 9am some mornings, 6am some mornings, eating unhealthy and then really healthy, and I had absolutely no balance or consistent routine. My digestive system is all out of whack and I’ve been falling really behind with my blog. I want to start today and the rest of this summer on a positive, healthy note.
With working full-time, planning a wedding now, and finally starting an adult life for myself, I have some lifestyle habits I want to change.
1. Strict bed-time
Since I live with Josh now, this is something we had to compromise on. The goal is to be in bed by 9:30pm, watch one Netflix show, and then lights out. So hopefully asleep by 11pm which will give me about 7 hours of sleep.
2. Learn to love being an early riser
I used to love this!!! Lately it’s “how much longer can I press the snooze button” haha. Mornings to me, are THE BEST. Now I just want to get up early enough to enjoy them.
3. Devotional, Coffee, Blog work in the morning
Last Summer, I was working all day as an intern and I got into a great lifestyle habit of waking up at 6am to have my quiet time before work. It was glorious! My Senior year definitely was not like that lol. BUT. I need that again. I want my body to know exactly when to wake up each day. I’m setting a 6am alarm clock M-F to give myself enough time to make coffee, read my devotional, catch up on blog emails, and get ready.
4. Workout 4-5x a week
I was REALLY good about this, this past January-April. I want to continue on my train of workouts and push myself.
5. Church every Sunday
Another thing I’m sad to say I’ve strayed away from the last couple of months. Life’s just been busy. Which is no excuse. Josh and I will be at Church this Sunday and planning to ALL Sunday’s from now on. This is a HUGE must as I feel my weeks are so much happier when they start with this.
6. Low carb diet
I spent hours looking into a good “diet”. I say “diet” lol because I don’t ever stick to one strictly. But I like to go off of one and make most of my meals through it. I’ve looked in Whole30, Keto diet, Mediterannean diet, etc. But I think I’m going to explore just a low carb diet. Definitely looking at a few recipes from the Keto diet.
Another thing I’ve got to get back into…. MEAL PREP. This changed my life last summer and then I got so busy with school that I stopped. It’s actually really fun to dedicate your Sunday to this so I want to get back to it.
7. Track calories
I see people do this and I think it’s so awesome and I do it for a day and then never use the app again haha. I just downloaded one yesterday and am planning to try to stick with it! I calculated how much I weigh and the calorie intake I want each day and I just will diary all my food each day.
