Good morning! 🙂 AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Ahhh, 2018 is gonna be a good one. I just know it. I have a lot of life changes happening this year. The main being graduating college and really entering adult world. I have a lot of dreams, hopes, and scared thoughts for this new year. But I know in my heart that it will be a good one no matter what life brings me! Today, I wanted to share with y’all a look into my notebook of New Year resolutions.
I started a journal of resolutions and goals about three years ago and it’s so neat to look back at. I can’t wait for 10 years from now to look back at my journal and see how I’ve grown. Check out last years resolutions HERE.
I have three main categories each year. I did have a couple random resolutions that didn’t fall into the main ones so I created an ‘other’ category as well. 🙂
This is pretty general but I think each year we can always improve how we are in relationships. I want to be a better girlfriend to Josh, for example, doing more of what he enjoys. I want to be a better friend to my girlfriends and spend more quality time with them. I want to aim to be a better daughter and sister in my family and call my family in a good mood. It’s easy to call my mom and complain about different things I have going on or how tired I am. I want to start calling and sharing positive things.
Yup. This still happens. I’ve actually been a lot better about this BUT I still struggle. I want to try and just make sure I’m doing what I need for my blog or posting to IG BEFORE being around friends/family.
This is similar to above but I want to aim to separate work from friend time. I’m really good at time blocking my life but I want to improve when I am with friends, and when I’m working.
I want to join a workout class!! I haven’t had the budget for this and probably still don’t but I really want to join a workout class to keep me in check with my workouts. I’m looking into Orange theory, considering Cyclebar, and even thinking about some home workouts like Kayla Itsines. Do y’all have any recommendations!?
This one really makes me upset! I was so healthy in the summer. Worked out daily, meal prepped, etc. Then school started again and this was a really busy semester. Pasta every night and working out once a week became a weekly thing. 🙁 Then I became really out of shape and with my busy schedule it just makes me so lethargic and I don’t get as much done. I started aiming to go to the gym 4x a week this last month and while I did it, I would only stay for 20-30 mins because I would get tired, or frustrated that I couldn’t workout or do as much as I used to. I would also get bored or unmotivated to push myself. Long story short, the gym isn’t working for me right now!!! That’s why I’m ready to stretch my budget a little and join a workout class. I want something to hold me accountable and something to push me back into shape. I think after that, I will be motivated to work hard in a gym. I miss coming home and being so excited to get a workout in.
I want to aim to find GOOD, healthy recipes. I just need them to be fast and easy and that’s hard with healthier recipes. But I want to spend the time researching this year.
I loved doing this in the summer. I have some really great recipes I loved and want to get back to prepping on Sunday’s. It makes life so much easier and way healthier!
Gahhh… anyone else a carb lover!? I mean, I love bread!!! I don’t want to cut it completely out because I’m a foodie and physically CAN’T. But, I want to cut my carb intake down. I’d like to eat a fruit/veggie diet during the week and be able to eat burgers/sandwiches/italian, etc during the weekend.
I have set numbers in my journal and want to keep it private but I want to continue growing my numbers through social channels and blog traffic.
My blog has become a great income this year. Something I will be forever thankful for because I’m getting to monetize a hobby. A dream come true! This year I want to double my income. I would eventually like to take my blog full time but don’t want to depend on that yet, so I am setting an income goal for myself.
Speaking of above, I want to save a years worth of income. Now, my income isn’t HUGE as I’m still in school… but I am fortunate to have two incomes coming in right now and I want to take advantage of that this year and save a years worth. Meaning, live off one of my incomes and save the other. I have so much ahead of me and I’d like to start saving money seriously to have a cushion for whatever life brings.
This is a goal I just started already and want to stick too! I want to create a personal budget an most importantly a business budget. I spend an amount on promotions, web hosting, content material, etc. each month but don’t go by a budget. I find I’m spending more than I should so I want to aim to set a budget and stick to it. I think it will also help me keep track on where my money is going and how well it’s benefitting my business.
If you have a website, aim to dig more into Google Analytics. I have NO CLUE what I’m doing when I login to my account. I want to spend time watching tutorials and learning Google Analytics to benefit AMS.
Some love YouTube, some don’t watch it at all. I personally LOVE YouTube and I want to continue playing around with it this year.
This was not a good year with my car haha. Towards the end of 2017, I got rear-ended, huge rock at my windshield that had to be replaced, and got a hefty ticket for running a stop sign. Not fun. While the first two weren’t my fault, I have some major road rage and a heavy foot when driving. This leads a lot into my next resolution but driving makes me anxious and no matter how much time I have, I always feel like it’s a race to get home or to my destination. I want to continue working on this because it’s not good!
I’ve developed some anxiety issues this year. This isn’t something I’ve felt comfortable sharing but I had some health issues in the summer that really triggered my anxiety. I had a panic attack early Fall and I have tried to do my own meditating to control the early stages of this. I want to continue working on relaxing and caring for my health because anxiety is not fun and I’ve seen people with severe anxiety really struggle. I get really bad anxiety when I drive which is why I really want to learn to chill.
2018 is going to be a big year! My life is going to change pretty drastically and I want to figure out my post-grad plans early 2018 and be happy/confident with them.
With the above point, I want to have more patience and trust in God’s plan this year. I know I can create all these post-grad plans for myself but in the end, God’s plan is bigger than mine and if something doesn’t go the way I want it, I want to be able to accept it with grace and trust in God.
And finally, I want to end my final semester of college with a BANG. If you know me, I don’t enjoy school. I have enjoyed a lot of my PR classes but I don’t enjoy all the pointless electives you have to take and I can’t stand homework. A huge reason is because I’m running my own business and school takes a lot of time away from that. But I want to enjoy this last semester, and kill it with good grades. After all, I’ll never have to school again! 😉
Wow. I think this is the most resolutions and goals I’ve had for myself in a year. I always want to improve myself and I can’t wait for what this year brings!! Speaking of improving, I’d really love to get your feedback on what all you enjoy on my blog and what you want to see in 2018. If you could take 5 mins to fill this out I would SO appreciate it. Thanks for reading! XO
