Happy 2017!!! I can’t believe it’s here. 2016 FLEW by. But, here we are at a brand New Year, ready for positive new changes and working on a better us. There’s something nice about entering a New Year, it’s refreshing to know you have a new start, new opportunities that can happen, and new friendships that can be made. I love creating goals each and every year and having resolutions. Last year, I made my 2016 resolutions and completed all but two! I’m pretty proud of that and thought hard about what I wanted to get done this year as far as goals.
1. Travel to 3 places.
I traveled quite a lot in 2016 and I didn’t think travel would be possible in 2017 as I have a full summer ahead of classes and then entering into my senior year in the fall. BUT, Josh and I have talked and we have two trips planned and I’m going to hope for a third as well. Travelling is my happy place and I want to make sure I do get to go away to a few places this year.
2. Workout.
Ok…. I know, everyone says this. I said it last year, and it’s so typical. But I just HAD to put it on my goals so I stick to it.
3. Work on a ‘better me.’
This is kind of broad and I have a few ideas for this in my mind but whether that’s working on my introvertedness, anxiety, friendships, etc. I think it’s important for everyone to always work on improving themselves.
4. Learn to turn off my phone / be present.
There are times when I’m really good at this and there are times when I’m really really bad. My work is on my phone so there is always something I can get done on it. I have a hard time just putting it down sometimes and I’m still trying to discipline myself to know when it’s appropriate to sit on my phone for an hour and when it’s not.
5. Get an internship in the Summer
My last summer in school and I definitely need one more internship on my resume before I enter adult world!
6. Save the amount I want.
I have a certain number in my notebook that I want to save in 2017 before I graduate in 2018.
7. Give back at least once.
I really want to volunteer or do something good in my community at least one time in 2017. I usually think about this and then get so busy each year but I’m hoping that writing it down this time and making it an actual goal, will hold me accountable for this.
8. Be Young/ Enjoy my last year of being young.
I’m going to try and keep this short…. But 2017 is my last full year of getting to be young, not have bills on bills, and my last year where my only worry is what my girlfriends and I are doing on a Friday night. In 2018, I’ll enter adult world and be completely independent on my own dime. While I’ve pretty much rushed the heck out of that hence why I’m graduating a year early…. I’ve never taken the time to be young. In my mind, I’m 26 years old. I love it like that, I like being overly mature, but I do know I’ll look back on 2017 one day and either regret not acting like a 20 year old or I’ll be really happy I took that time to be young. I get so so tired of parents asking me why I’m rushing school, or telling me to take advantage of it. I get it. College is fun, college is your time to be an adult but not have actual bills, but I’m so ready to not be in college. I’m ready to support myself on my own. BUT, I do fully understand learning to soak up being young and to be present in the moment while being a college kid. I pray that I just stop rushing my adult life for at least 365 days in 2017.
Those are my eight New Years resolutions/goals for 2017. I’m excited for what this year will hold for not only me, but my friends and family as well. Thanks again for following along this blog in 2016, I’m extremely thankful and can only hope y’all keep coming back for more in 2017. XOXO
