Josh’s Look: Shirt | Pants | Boots
Happy #weddingwednesday! After last week’s engagement party dress, I’ve been receiving a ton of messages about what to wear for your engagement photos.
Your engagement photos are what you will get done after your engagement and the photos are used for your liking but also mainly for your Save The Dates. Josh and I did ours last November and I love how they turned out. We will cherish them forever! I’ll share those photos and our vision behind it soon but until then, I thought I would share some ideas on outfits for your own engagement photos.
First things first, figure out your season. We were taking pics in November and our wedding is a December wedding so I wanted our photos to be very wintery and dramatic. How you do yours is completely up to you but go with the season you are in or getting married in!
Once you decide your season. Decide how dressy you want to be. Most engagement shoots consist of a couple of outfits. Josh and I did two outfits, a dressy look and a casual look. I see a bunch of couple do 3, 4, and even 5 looks sometimes. That’s completely up to you! We knew we wanted a dramatic, dressy shoot for our save the dates but more of a casual shoot for ourself since we are such casual people.
After you decide on how many outfits and how dressy or dressed down you want it, pick your outfits! I say start with your outfits, and then have your fiance base his outfits after yours.
For the sake of this post, I’m going to be sharing DRESS options for a more “dressy” shoot but I hope this helps.
Ahhh summertime!!! There’s so many directions you can go with your summer engagement session. I always thought doing photos by the ocean or lake are BEAUTIFUL during this season. For summer engagement photos I recommend flowy summer maxi dresses, or a cute boho cocktail dress. Here’s what I would wear:

Fall is such a nice time for engagement pictures. The weather is cooling down, you’re starting to get cozy, it’s perfect! If you look up “fall engagement photos” on Pinterest there’s a ton of fun ideas. I always thought jeans and a flannel are SUPER cute fall outfits for a casual look with your engagement session and then doing a long sleeve cocktail dress with booties for a formal session. I do tend to see that fall sessions are always more casual. Even jeans and a cute blouse are adorable and simple. What I would wear:

This season is what Josh & I planned for! More to come on our session. I think dark, sultry, and sexy when I think of winter photos. I also think of Christmas and glitter though too haha. What I would wear:

Guess what!? Since I was a little girl I dreamed of a Spring wedding. I always told myself my wedding would be pastels, florals, and in the Spring. And then timelines happened and I decided I wanted a Winter wedding lol. But seriously, living through ALL of you girls having a Spring wedding. They’re my favorite! For Spring inspired engagement pics, I imagine all the pastel colors, fun prints, and cute downtown city shoots. What I would wear:

No matter what you wear, how you look, how your fiancè tells you he hates taking photos haha, etc. the only thing that matters is that you’re marrying the love of your life. Wear what feels right and normal between you two!!
