Happy Friday! I hope y’all had a fantastic week. To kick off the weekend, I wanted to share some favorites from the summer and a little bit about life lately.
1. Life
Boy. August always drains me for some reason. And my blog gets put on the back burner every time. This month has been so crazy and exciting but very all over the place. I ended my summer classes, went immediately into work week, finished my internship, went through sorority recruitment, and immediately started my senior year of college. It’s been a whirlwind! This week, I have been super stomach sick. I went to the doctor and found out I have a stomach infection and have to be on medication for the next 30 days. I’ve had a hard time going to class and it’s been so stressful because I like starting on a good note and being organized. Speaking of which, I’m behind on many deadlines for the blog, I have so many emails to reply too, and update my calendar. Although it’s been a rough month I wanted to share with y’all that I got a big girl job!! I was planning on doing my blog full time my senior year and putting all of my focus into that. But after this summer interning at a PR firm, I was so thankful to be offered a job to stay on. This is so exciting because it’s the start of my PR career and I can’t even believe I’ve been blessed with this job opportunity before I even get my degree.
God has his individual plan for me and whenever I seem to make set plans, he throws new ones my way and I am so grateful for each opportunity. I’m really looking forward to working, finishing my final 30 hours of school and put my heart back to my blog. Another update is that I’m really loving having Josh here in Lubbock again and his little brother and my little sister. It’s been a fun few weeks and I can’t wait to see what is in store for us this year.
2. Brookside pomegranate Snacks
My food favorite of the month!! These things are soooo good. It’s my favorite snack for when I have a sweet tooth and they’re just too yummy. Have y’all tried!?
3. Fromm beauty comb
I recently received this in the mail a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. I also recently got hair extensions (for fun!) and this comb is amazing for brushing through my hair and my extensions. I love the wide tooth.
4. Overalls
I know I know, I never though I’d catch myself in a pair of overalls. But they’re on trend right now and stores are styling them in a fun way. I wanted to try it out so I got a cheap pair from Forever 21 that I love and can’t stop wearing. I love the white distressed look of them and I’m already planning game day outfits with them this fall.
5. Fedora’s
I love a good hat. I’ve always swooned over giant floppy hats but recently they’ve been annoying me and I really love the look of a sleek fedora. It’s no funny business and the perfect accessory for any look! I recently bought this one.
6. Diffuser
When I was home briefly in July, my mom and sister had these diffusers and I had to have one. I had been seeing all the hype about essential oils and diffusers throughout social media, but after seeing them in the works at my home, I realized what all the hype was about. I have this one. My roommate loved mine and just ordered one for herself! I love using lavender and tranquil essential oils. They’re so soothing and it makes my bedroom such a calm place at night.
7. Taylor Swift
On a lighter note, can we talk about T-swift!? Haha. When I first heard her song and watched the music video I did not like it at all. I’ve always loved Taylor Swift for her sweet and innocent music about heart break, etc. When I heard this song it was not so innocent and not the same kind of tune I’m used too from her. But I love her and I kept listening to it and now I love it! She’s so fabulous and I love everything this album is becoming and all that she is doing for her personal brand. You go girl!
Lastly, I wanted to talk about Hurricane Harvey.
This of course is not a favorite but it’s something I wanted to touch on. I was personally not affected by this disaster but have so many friends in college that are from Houston and have childhood homes destroyed. I have readers and family in Houston dealing with this devastation. I’ve been heartbroken seeing all of the videos and photos on Facebook. The people affected by hurricane Harvey need everyones help and if you can’t serve in person, there are so many ways you can give back. I wanted to list a few but there are tons of others that are helping everyone afffected.
–Houston Food Bank & Food Bank of Corpus Christi
–United Way of Greater Houston
Thanks so much for reading friday’s post! Have a wonderful long weekend and talk to y’all next week. 😉
