Hi Friends! HAPPY Friday ๐ It’s pre July Fourth weekend, are y’all doing anything fun?! I’m currently at the airport heading to Austin to see my Josh for the weekend. It’s our anniversary on Sunday so I can’t wait to enjoy a weekend together.
I get a ton of questions about my hair and how I curl it so I wanted to share a post on how I get my loose tousled curls. I do a couple different curled hair looks but this one has been my favorite for the summer. Summer is all about relaxing and this hairstyle definitely fits just that so keep reading to learn how I get this loose curled look!
Products:
Investing in quality hair care products and tools are CRUCIAL to get the type of hair style you want as well as maintain healthy hair.
For this type of look I use these products on my hair to give texture and hold the curls:ย
Triple Sec texturizing spray andย Sebastian Shaper Plus Hairspray
I use these hair tools for a tousled look:
T3 Micro Wand, T3 Micro Singlepass mini straightener, and a teasing comb.
To start:
To start this hairstyle I typically have slept on my hair the night before and its usually lost its straightened look so I’ll brush through it and straighten a few parts of my hair with this cute mini straightener. I love using a mini one for this because it’s smaller and quicker to use on my hair for something as small as straightening a few bits of hair. I will also make sure all the ends of my hair are pin straight as this will help the over all look in the end.
After that, I’ll spray the roots and small areas around my hair with my texturizing spray. This stuff is to-die for and doesn’t make your hair hard or sticky like others do. Using a texturizing spray is going to help form your curls and help them stick.
The Curl:
Depending on the type of curl you want, you can determine the barrel size you want to use. I have smaller and larger sizes but for this type of loose wave, tousled curl look, I choose a larger 1.5″ barrel. This wand is the best thing ever and SO worth the investment. I couldn’t recommend it more!
I always curl away from my face. I like to separate my hair in two parts and then start with the back pieces, curling away, wrapping the hair around the barrel, and leaving about 1/2 an inch of hair out and leaving that straight.
Do this over and over to all parts of hair. For bangs/front hair pieces: I curl these up. I will lay my barrel horizontal and wrap above my head. For my hair type, my bangs situate weirdly so curling these up make sure they don’t have a weird crease in them.
After:
After your hair is curled, HAIRSPRAY. All around. Then I take a teasing comb and lightly brush through my bangs and bottom half of hair. Then, I start teasing the back of my hair. Spray again with hairspray and voila. You’ve got super cute, light, beautiful, tousled curls. ๐
Just as a quick disclaimer, you may have a different curl outcome. My hair is frizzy, very textured, and thick. If you have different hair than me, you may need a few different products. But I hope y’all enjoyed reading about how I get this hair style.
Have a WONDERFUL weekend. XO.ย
