Happy Tuesday! I’ve been non stop going and going so it’s nice to finally have some downtime for a bit and make this post. I went to Austin for July 4th weekend and it was definitely a weekend to remember.
I got to go with two really good friends and we road tripped there. On Friday, we decided to make a stop at the San Marcos Outlets before turning back to our hotel. Once we got to our hotel we checked in… (by the way, who knew Aloft Hotels required you to be 21 to check in?? I thought we were going to have to sleep outside or something until she said she would make an exception for us) #awkward
Friday night was a little crazy!! My good friend knows Austin really well because her brother goes to the University of Texas, so she showed us all around. I definitely saw the good and the bad of Austin. We went out and met a few people and had the best tex mex.
Saturday was the greatest because we had a whole day filled with fun activities. We walked through South Congress and looked at all of the fun boutiques, and took photos in front of the infamous “I love you so much” wall. After, we went Kayaking on the Colorado Springs Lake in Zilker Park. It was so fun!!! We laughed the whole time because we definitely stuck out being three girls who didn’t know what in the heck we were doing… (we may have run into a tree/bush a few times) We were also not dressed for the occasion either haha. After that craziness we drove through UT and all of the adorable little homes in the area. (Austin reminds me a lot of Chapel Hill, NC) Later that night, we ate a ton of food…. watched some fireworks, and went dancing at a cool restaurant.
Sunday we ate at the famous Casino El Camino (it was on diners, drive-ins, and dives) and walked around a lot more before heading out.
It was such a fun weekend with really great friends. Austin was definitely not my cup of tea….. (a little too weird and crazy) but it was super cool and fun to visit for a weekend.
Hope your July 4th weekend was a blast!
