H friend! I’m due a home a blog post on here so I wanted to share 3 ways we leveled up our 80’s home today. When we bought, we knew our house had a LOT of potential. It’s come a long way but these are 3 things I feel leveled up our home the most.
First thing we did was rip out the ugly white / black tile we had throughout the house as well as carpet in the bedrooms. I feel like a consistent wood flooring completely transforms the space and makes it feel clean and put together. We ripped carpet out as well because we have dirty animals and I also think putting down a fun rug on hardwoods helps transform a space. We went with this vinyl flooring because the previous owner did the living room with it so we continued it throughout house. I believe with the labor and price we spent about $4500 on new floors.

Coming from an apartment where I had to accept the ugly fans and harsh lighting, I was EXTRA excited about putting all new light fixtures in. When I tell you the light fixtures COMPLETELY change the vibe of the house… it really does! I started with our living room and dining room lights and then slowly changed every single light in the house matching the same vibe but doing different fixtures to funk up each space.

Lastly, our furniture has truly made each room. I tried to make everything light neutrals with pops of black and a statement piece in each room. No matter what, in any home, finding unique pieces and going with a certain look can truly make any room.
I just love our home so much! We’ve only been in it for about 7 months now but I have absolutely loved the entire process. Such a fun continuous project too! Have you renovated before or did you buy a new build!? Hope you enjoyed seeing a few ways we leveled up our 80’s home. xo!
