In January, I bought the $600 Dyson Airwrap to try out for myself. I don’t normally spend that much on hair tools but I’ve been VERY intrigued by it and was totally influenced. It curls, smooths, waves, and dries and basically does all the things.
It’s definitely been a ride trying to learn how to use this thing. It takes time! I also learned recently that you’re supposed to use the airwrap on damp hair not dry hair. It’s not your traditional hot tools that’s for sure!
So far I am loving it though. The curls are bouncy and voluminous and I feel like my hair feels less damaged and dry. I will say it took me about 3-4 weeks to get down my own technique with it.
P.S. It goes in and out of stock… once it’s in stock it sells out FAST. Currently as I write this it’s out of stock everywhere but I’ll keep my eyes open for when it’s back.
I absolutely LOVE the soft smoothing brush. I’ve been using it the most lately and it makes your hair look smooth and shiny… no frizz! I’ll usually blow dry and then use the smoothing brush to straighten/ smooth out my hair.
It doesn’t use extreme heat, it uses air to pull the hair in and to dry. My first thought on the blow dryer was that it wasn’t hot enough (because I like to literally burn my scalp) but then I remembered it’s supposed to be that way to HELP the hair. I feel like my hair has felt less damaged and dry over the last month because of it. After you’re done curling, it doesn’t feel like you’re burning or damaging your hair like most hot tools.
Do you NEED a $600 hair set? No. But do I think it’s worth it if you’re serious about buying it? Yes! I am super impressed with the Dyson Airwrap and would absolutely purchase again. I have thick, textured hair and it works great on me. I do wish I had longer hair for it and probably wouldn’t recommend to someone with short hair unless you have patience to learn how to use it with short hair.
If you’re thinking about getting this, make sure you watch videos on the type of curls it gives. If you like it, I’d recommend purchasing! If you don’t like the bouncy, voluminous curls, I wouldn’t recommend it. Really all comes down to your hair and preference but I love IT! 10/10 recommend this thing.
If the price is still way too much, you can also buy some refurbished online (I know so many people who have done this) and it works / performs just the same and could save you some $$$.
