Sharing a really sweet #weddingwednesday today with y’all… our first look! We actually didn’t do a “first look” so our first look was just me walking down the aisle. These photos give me all sorts of emotions!! I almost didn’t share this post because I felt the photos were so raw, emotional, and personal…. I wanted to keep them all to myself haha. But, so many of y’all have followed our journey and I know I personally love to see the guys first looks at every wedding… SO I decided to share.
I LOVE how people do an actual first look. You know, where they see each other before the ceremony once to take it all in. I think it’s a really special time between the husband and wife before they say ‘I do’. However, it was really special to Josh and I that we DIDN’T do that. We really wanted to both see each other for the first time during my walk down the aisle and it made things extra emotional. I told my videographers and photographer I DID NOT care about photos of myself down the aisle and that I really wanted his reaction captured. These pictures are EVERYTHING to me.
Before the wedding, I was so nervous, I thought I was gonna pass out, but the second I turned the corner, and I saw Josh, everything was okay. I was so excited for him to see me that day, in a wedding dress, and walking down that aisle.
To be honest, we probably SHOULD have done a first look. Since we got married in the Winter, we didn’t get as many family portraits in the end as I really wanted because we were so locked on time with the sun going down so early. Everything had to be rushed and if we would’ve done our first look and bride and groom pics beforehand, it could have made “after” the ceremony much smoother and more of a breeze. However, I wouldn’t change this moment down the aisle for the world. It was so special to me and I loved sticking to the traditional aspect of him seeing me for the first time down that aisle.
There are SO many pros and cons of doing a first look or not, we went back and forth for months. My best advice is to sit with your soon to be husband one evening and make a list of the pros and cons if you’re torn. Do what’s best for YOU BOTH, and what you both want….the rest doesn’t matter.
We both agreed after the wedding that it would’ve been less stressful and less of a whirlwind if we did the first look, but we both still agree this was the best decision for us. I love these photos so much and reminds me of how special and emotional our day was.
AH!! All the feels. Thanks so much for reading today’s sweet post. I hope y’all enjoyed! Don’t forget to check out last weeks post if you missed it too.
