I can’t believe I’m making this post. I’ve spent the last year wondering if/when I’ll leave Lubbock. Some of y’all may be reading this and thinking “what, I thought you were in Dallas!” haha but nope! I’m back and forth to Dallas a lot but I live full time in Lubbock, Texas.
After a little over four years here, I am officially moving back to Dallas full time! I’ll be back and forth to Lubbock until December, with some collaborations I have but for the most part I am officially a Dallas resident starting……. A WEEK FROM TODAY! Josh and I are packing up a u-haul with ALL of our things next Sunday and bringing it to Dallas.
We went apartment hunting with an apartment locater (whom we LOVED… dm me if you’re looking for apartments in Dallas!) and spent all of Saturday on the hunt. We ended up finding one we love so much in the perfect area. We will be off Knox/Henderson and by Katy Trail. We put in our application last night on the apartment and we will know more this week on whether or not we get the place and if everything is good. I am so excited and I couldn’t sleep at all last night knowing we found the perfect place.
To back up from the excited-ness….. and explain how all of this came about. I graduated last May from Texas Tech. I decided to stick around in Lubbock to be with Josh and I also had a full time job. Our plan was to be in LBK until this coming December when Josh is officially done with school (6 years later..). When I quit my job in March to work for myself, I started driving back and forth to Dallas more for work. Josh got a job in Dallas this summer and has been living here with my parents. I stuck around in Lubbock for the summer to be with our animals and keep our place in check.
A lot of y’all have probably noticed as I’ve shared it on IG stories a few times but this summer has been really hard for me. A bunch of my friends moved to new cities for work, my fiancè and family were in Dallas, and I was working for myself at home and by myself all day every day. I’ve been struggling A LOT. I don’t know how to explain it but I’ve basically just felt extremely unmotivated and “down” the past 2 months.
I’m very introverted and such a home body but I am also a VERY social person… and I thrive in a city. Since I was working for myself, and Josh was LOVING his job and being in Dallas, we decided it would be best for me and our relationship if I go ahead and move back to Dallas full time in August. Josh will be in Lubbock the next few months living in our apartment there, and I’ll be in our apartment here in Dallas. He’s planning to come visit every other weekend and I plan to go to Lubbock once a month.
Obviously, it’s not ideal to keep being a part. But if I stayed in Lubbock, even with Josh there, it just wouldn’t be worth it. My business isn’t growing there, there aren’t many opportunities there, and Josh is so busy with school and work that I hardly even see him. When our lease is up in December (in Lubbock) Josh will hopefully get a full time job in Dallas and will join me in our place! This Fall is going to be crazy and all over the place but we are so excited to go ahead and get a new place in Dallas, and take y’all along on this next phase in our life.
Lastly, Lubbock has been the most amazing place the past four years. I grew up (from my 18 year old self) in Lubbock, really took my blog seriously in Lubbock, met my fiancè there, and so much more. I’ve developed friendships within blogging there that I am forever thankful for and I’ve learned so much about myself these last few years. Part of the reason I’ve been so down the last few weeks is because one minute I’m so excited to leave, and the next I’m really anxious because Lubbock is comfortable for me. I’m excited for a new challenge but Lubbock will forever have a place in my heart. I’m so thankful y’all have followed my journey in Lubbock and I can’t wait to see what all I’ll be able to do and share in Dallas!
