I’m back with a #weddingwednesday post today! I asked on IG a month ago what kind of wedding posts y’all want to see and I got so many great ideas. To start, so many have been wondering and asking more about the engagement process. I realized that I too, was confused about this when we started talking about it so I wanted to pull together a post all about how we started talking about engagement. 🙂
I’m not sure where you live, where you went to college, or where you’re at in your relationship…. but I can share what worked for Josh and I and how this topic came up! I feel like as girls, so many of us dream about our future engagement and having that special princess moment of getting asked. I started praying for my future husband in high school that’s how much I looked forward to getting married one day haha.
For Josh and I, it was a little over a year when we started talking about getting married ONE day. We knew for each other that this was it for us. We both talked about it together, about how we wanted a future together, etc. Probably 6 months after that I started to ask about when he thought he would propose. It’s one thing to always talk and dream about that moment but I was ready to make a plan of ACTION lol. At the time, I was 20 and Josh was 21 so I knew it wouldn’t be anytime soon. But I was trying to gage how many years he thought haha. We always talked about after graduation for sure.
For us, I was graduating early and Josh was graduating about 2 years late so he was staying in Lubbock. We had talked about moving in together and I had a job so I would stay. I think Josh might have felt a little pressure to propose after I graduated just so that I guess it looked a little better with the fact I was staying and we were living together. Not sure though!!! But somewhere between those times, he planned his proposal! I was always joking and sending him rings I loved via IG so he always knew the ring I wanted. I shared more about the ring in this post.
Every relationship is different but this is how we started talking about it. I think when you know, you just know!! Thanks for reading. XO
