Happy FRIDAY! Today I’m working a little longer at the office and then I’m coming home to answer a few emails in my personal office and then Josh and I are going on a DATE!! Yay! We haven’t been on a planned date since like April lol. We’ve been so busy and the times we do get, we just want to be home. Josh asked me the other week not to make plans tonight and I’ve been excited since. We are going to the movies and then to dinner and I just can’t contain my excitement lol.
Modern Home Office Ideas:
We moved into our place back in May and I shared our bedroom and living room with y’all over the summer. Well, I kept putting off my office because it was honestly always a wreck or something was missing. This room is something I NEEDED the last year and when Josh and I were looking for places, we knew I needed an office space. I adore this space so much because I’m able to shut the door and completely ‘girl’ out and just be in clothes and makeup heaven. This is also my creative/inspired space so I love sitting in here and planning outfits or posts. I am so thankful for it.
I seriously pictured and planned this office in my head back in January. I lost so much sleep my last semester of college because I was just THINKING and day-dreaming about this office. That’s how much I desperately needed this space for my mind. I wanted it to be girly, but not too colorful/crazy. I knew I wanted a statement rug, gold bookcases, and the rest just to be basically white. Of course it HAD to be aesthetically pleasing lol. I mean, I take all my beauty photos in here and will really start taking more in-home pics once the weather starts cooling. Anyways, check out all my modern home office ideas!
First up, the vanity. This is where I store my jewelry and hair products. I typically start my morning in the bathroom putting on makeup and then gradually make my way here to do my hair and put on my jewelry. It’s the perfect space. The chest is actually antique and has been in our family for forever. It was this dark brown, old color, and a couple years ago we painted it white and put pretty gold knobs on it. My mom had a glass topper cut for me so I could have that on top so nothing would stain it.
I keep my hair tools in a rose gold bin and have some trays to hold little hair clips or random things I throw on this dresser. To the left corner, I keep a rose gold bin with my frequent hair products so I can grab and go as I need. Next to it is where I store my bracelets. In the drawers, I keep hair products (yes… I have a lot) in all of them except the big middle drawer. I store all of my necklaces, earrings, head bands, etc in that drawer. The mirror above this chest is also antique that we spray painted white as well. You could easily find these things in Home Goods or Ikea.
Ahh… my beloved Gold Etagere bookcases. Y’all. I’ve wanted these for years and when I finally knew I had an office, I started shopping for them. UM, they are SO EXPENSIVE. Literally EVERYWHERE I looked they were about $400-600 A PIECE. That was not something I could afford and I kept searching and searching. Well, I found these online at WALMART. Yup…. you read that right haha. They are literally the exact same as the fancy expensive ones but I got these for $104 a piece. SCORE. If you’re looking for some, girl…. save yourself the dollars and buy these.
Now, once I got them in I was so excited to style them and then I put two things on them and had the toughest time styling both of them…. I mean, it takes a brain. I still don’t really love it…. but I’ve just bowed down for now lol. I wanted them to be girly, chic, but not overwhelmed and I feel like some of the layers are a little cluttered. Send me any tips!! Also the little mannequin I have in the corner was my sisters and she didn’t want it anymore but I thought it fit so well in here. I want to dress her with some fall bags and a scarf for this new season.
My desk area! I try to keep this space as simple as possible since I’m always throwing papers, sticky notes, and planners all over it. I do have my little pumpkins there right now and my acrylic chair isn’t the comfiest so I keep two pillows on it. My #1 most asked question since I decorated this area is about my rug. I get messages EVERY DAY on Instagram about it. I bought it on sale from Rugs USA and here is the rug if you want it too. I love it! I have the 5×7 size.
The not so pretty side….. Y’all RARELY see this side haha. I have this awesome white set of drawers to store all office things, receipts, and random things. I keep my printer above it and a file holder behind that. My future mother in law got that amazing sign above the drawers for me and I LOVE IT. I’ve seen it at Hobby Lobby if you want one! To the right of that is the disaster haha. I really wish our closets had doors but that’s okay! It opens up to the craziness of a blogger closet.
This is the wall directly in front of the wall my shelves are on. This is my inspiration wall as I have these 3 prints my mom got for me from New York, and they honestly represent me haha. I keep a clothing rack stacked with new pieces I get in so I can style them for the blog. I love the Fall time because the rack looks so cozy. And to the left of it, I keep my full-length mirror.
