Ring from JamesAllen.com
Soooo… if you haven’t heard… I’M ENGAGED. It still feels not real! Although I’ve definitely started getting really excited and am constantly pinning to my wedding board already haha. I will be keeping y’all posted and bringing y’all along all of my wedding planning ventures but I will say that we are planning for a pretty long engagement! We are in no rush and Josh still has a 5th year of school. Probably later this fall I will jump full force into planning.
So to start first, Josh and I have been together about 2.5 years. About 6 months of steady going, I knew he was the one. Josh is the most selfless, kind, giving man I’ve ever met. He knows me, understands me, is calm, loving, and most of all, makes me laugh every day. Last summer, we started talking about getting married. OF course, nothing serious, just that that’s something we saw in our future. We talked timelines and such but it was all up in the air. This past Winter I started joking around with him about how I was really ready for that next step. I always sent him IG messages with rings I saw and tried to be nonchalant about it lol. I knew Josh was going to have a 5th year and worked full-time with a lot on his plate so I always thought it would probably be another year away.
For some reason, in March, I thought it might happen haha. But it didn’t and I told myself I would NOT let my imagination wander like that. When Josh is ready, it would happen and I shouldn’t rush anything.
Well, I just learned this a week ago, but Josh actually went home for a weekend in March and he stopped by my parents house to ask them for their blessing. In April, I started having a lot of people ask me when we were getting engaged. I wasn’t sure so that’s what I always said but quite a few people mentioned maybe it would be during graduation or definitely in the Summer. I always joked it off and didn’t want to get something in my mind.
Well since March, Josh has been planning this whole thing. His family came into town for my graduation and so did mine. We wanted to do dinner the night before in celebration because we were driving to Dallas right after my graduation on Saturday.
We ate at the Tech club, my parents favorite spot, and it overlooks the football stadium. We sat literally in the center of the restaurant lol and everyone was SO normal. I didn’t expect anything. Right after we ate salads/appetizers, everyone wanted to do gifts. I thought it was interesting we didn’t wait till the end of dinner haha but I wasn’t complaining!! His whole family each gave me a gift. My dad started recording me on his phone and that’s when I kind of thought something was off haha. But forward on, I went through some gifts and then Josh had one for me. When he gave it to me his hands were shaking so bad and my heart kind of stopped a little. In my head I was like “don’t freak out.” So I opened his gift and in it was a frame that had a sweet note in it. The next thing I knew he got up, pulled something out of his jacket, and got down on one knee.
The best part is, I immediately said no lol. I kept saying “no, no no no” and his grandma and mom were like what!? Hahaha, I was saying no because I just couldn’t believe this was happening. I think we both blacked out because I couldn’t remember a single thing he said to me haha. But he put the prettiest ring on my finger and I of course said YES. P.S. Been getting lots of questions about my ring… Josh got mine from JamesAllen.com and it’s everything I dreamed of.
Right after, I stood up to hug him and the WHOLE restaurant was clapping and whistling. It was so sweet (and embarrassing lol). So many people stopped at our table to congratulate us and I was so overwhelmed with kindness. He had one of my good friends, also my photographer, Jennifer there to take these photos y’all are seeing so that’s why they did gifts so quickly so she didn’t have to sit there haha.
It was truly the perfect proposal story for us. I wanted my family to be there and the way he did it was so sweet and something I’ll always remember. I’m also thankful for this video of my proposal story so I can rewatch this 1000x:
So, I’m a fiancée now!! Thank you to EVERYONE for the sweet messages these last few weeks. I’m over the moon!
P.S. There will be another post coming soon all about the ring and how Josh designed it!
