We made it to Friday!! School started yesterday and I work all day today so I’m ready for the weekend! The #1 question I receive in both my daily real life and on IG is how I manage my time and how I stay so on top of things. Well, it’s called discipline haha.
Over the years since being away from my parents and on my own, I found my toughest weeks were when they weren’t planned and organized. So I learned to start intensively planning my week for exactly what I need to get done. I’m talking hour by hour plans each day. A lot of people think I’m crazy as some of my closest friends like taking each day as a new adventure. I love that and have so much respect for that, but I can’t function when I have that mind set.
Today I wanted to share how I time block my life activities and maybe give some inspiration to those wanting to get a little more organized in 2018. I’ve also got a video about my best tips for organization coming soon. Subscribe to my youtube channel here so you don’t miss it!
The best thing when planning my week is to time block each hour. This is how I get most of my stuff done. Of course, some days I procrastinate or am side tracked but most are motivated.
I like to sit down with my calendar each Sunday and write out everything I have to do, want to do, and even write in free time. The key to doing this is to start with priorities. Start with what you HAVE to do each week, i.e: work, school, sports practice, etc. From there, write in next important activities, i.e: friends birthday, date night, workouts, homework hours, etc. After that, go in and see what time slots you have left and fill those in with side tasks you need to get done. Like, grocery shopping, paying bills, organization, nap time, social hour, etc. All it takes is just one hour of motivation to sit and plan your week.
For more details/ examples, I wanted to include this weeks agenda for me and how I did it:
I’ll spare y’all the mess of each one that’s scheduled but I take what I scheduled in from above and prioritize these next. I will go in and fill in appointments, then the more flexible things like grocery shopping, workouts, online class, etc. I give these each a time block for example workouts at 5:45-6:45 each day of the week. Grocery shopping from 1pm-2pm on a day. Blog work 1pm-4:30pm T&Th. And I go like that for each thing blocking out my lunch hour, activities, and even giving myself a time block for my blog.
I do these the same as I explained above. These are all flexible so I take my overall calendar and see when I can squeeze the rest of this in. I give each of these 30mins- an hour for during my week.
This system has helped me make sure I get EVERYTHING done and stay on top of things. If I don’t get all my errands done, I usually will do those on Saturday, cutting into my “social” day. So I really aim for busy weeks and slow paced weekends. I hope this inspires y’all to get organized and maybe try time blocking out for your week. Thanks for reading! xo
