Hey friends! I am finally finally getting around to this Toas travel guide, and I’m super pumped about it! Josh and I got to go on a sponsored trip to Taos, New Mexico, a few weeks ago and had the most incredible time. We truly got to experience winter life in Taos for a weekend and it was so peaceful. We went with a fun group too which is always a plus! I wanted to share some photos and a little bit about each day with y’all. So, without further ado, here’s my Taos travel guide!
On Friday, we left at 4:30am to drive to New Mexico. The drive was pretty boring until we got to Taos and the last hour was beautiful!!! It was also cool to see the temperature drop so low throughout the drive. Once we checked into our hotel (which is SO fabulous!!) we met up with the team that put this weekend together and some other influencers for lunch at The Gorge. It was so good and apparently Green Chiles are a known thing there so I ordered a Green Chile Grilled Cheese with Sweet potato fries, yum.
After lunch, we went back to the hotel to check out our room. It was incredible! We stayed at the El Monte Sagrado which is an amazing resort & spa. Y’all can see photos of it below but it had a cute balcony, a fireplace, and the most amazing bathtub. Their staff was SO friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Once we were cleaned up we met with the whole group (got to meet everyone else!) to go explore. Angela of Heritage Inspirations was our tour guide both days and she was the best tour guide I’ve ever had. She was so passionate about her home as well as a ball of fire that we just genuinely enjoyed getting to know. We rode around in a fun van and our first stop of the day was the Taos Pueblo. This place was so neat. It was amazing to see this community of people and their homes. This is one of the longest continually habited communities in the country! This is a must-see when you visit. Afterwards, we went over to the Milicent Rogers Museum which was so cool. Josh is more into museums than I am so I know he really enjoyed seeing the art and learning about their culture.
From there, we drove over to the Chokola Bean to Bar cafe. This is a chocolatiere so y’all already know this was my favorite thing all day haha. The owner is from Spain and we got to listen to him talk about his business and passion for chocolate. He makes everything fresh and picks his own Cacao beans from different origins. We got to taste the different chocolates with different Cacao beans and it was so fascinating. Afterwards we got hot chocolates and homemade chocolate mousse. Needless to say, I was in my element. They also make coffees, mochas, and other pastries.
As y’all can tell, this day was jam packed! After the cafe, it was time for the 31st Annual Yuletide Caroling and Tree Lighting. The whole town comes together and puts on a show and lights the tree. It was so sweet to see all of the kiddos running around with their families and how everyone gathers.
From here, we went back to the hotel to change and then headed to dinner at Lamberts. This restaurant was dark and dreamy. The food was marvelous and you know I got desert haha! This dinner was so fun and ended with homemade smore’s.
Day 2 was definitely our favorite! We started it bright and early and went hiking. We had a blast with our group and Angela from Heritage Inspirations was so fabulous leading us this day. We had lunch to-go from Taos Cow and wow it was YUMMY. This whole entire hike was breathtaking and so fun to be along the river. We ran into some fun little friends too (sheep!) but this hike wasn’t bad and would be perfect for younger kids as well.
After we finished with that it was about 1:00pm. We had about 4 hours to ourselves and Josh and I walked around the town! I really enjoyed being in the town as it had so much personality and fun little shops. We got ice cream, more chocolate drinks from Chokola, and window shopped! Of course we ended up at the Taos Brewery by the end and were there for a couple of hours haha. Josh was in his element! I truly wish we could’ve had a whole extra day and night because there was so much to do and see and I wasn’t expecting that!
From there, we met everyone in town for the annual Yuletide. I thought this was such a neat tradition! Everything is open later and you can walk into the different shops and they have music playing, mulled wine, soup, snacks, and you can also pop into the museum. This is such a cool time for their town and really special to see everyone come together.
After that, we headed to dinner at the Taos Inn! They have the Adobe Bar inside (VERY well known, especially for the margaritas!) and also have a fabulous restaurant called Doc Martin’s. I had fish and Josh got these incredible enchiladas- I was jealous lol!
Unfortunately we had to leave fairly early and head back to our hotel. 🙁 We left at 4am on Sunday! This trip was so amazing and Taos was beautiful! We want to go back when it’s snowing so we can also go up to the ski valley. I would recommend this town to ANYONE. It’s perfect for young couples looking for a getaway, perfect for families with babies and amazing for an older couple wanting to relax. The people are friendly and the food is incredible… what more could you ask for!! Haha. Thank you so much for reading. If you’re interested in knowing more about day to day, Josh and I filmed both days in these videos:
Thank you to Visit Taos and El Monte Sagrado for hosting us during our stay. Majority of photos captured by the incredible Will Fox.
