Why, hello there November!! The ultimate Thanksgiving countdown has begun haha. Last night, I was super boring and stayed in to do work and schedule some things for the blog… then I watched Game of Thrones and went to bed by 11pm. Who would’ve thought I’m a young college girl lol!? #grandmaatheart. But I hope y’all got out and got some candy or did something fun! 🙂
I don’t know about y’all but I’m super guilty with getting caught up in life, putting a million and one things on my plate, and running myself thin. Sometimes maybe I’m not even that busy but my mind is in a thousand other places and I’m stressed with school, my business, or other personal things. That’s life! I think we all go through busy seasons or load things up on our plate or just get so in our head we don’t even realize that five days have gone by and we haven’t breathed. When this happens, or I need to get out of my head, I have a list of things I Â personally do and enjoy to get me out and breathe some fresh air. I wanted to share those with y’all today in case you need a little motivation to step back and relax.
Get Outside. I feel like this is an easy given but I know a lot of people who don’t do this. When I’m stressed or feel kind of trapped in my head, a walk outside is an easy fix. Fresh air is soooo good for the soul. I even like to walk to the park and find a bench or a cute fire place like this one and just sit, think, and be happy. I know this time of year is getting cold which is still no excuse to not get fresh air. Bundle up and grab your cozy blanket and hit the nearest park or spot outside you like to sit. Even if it’s your back yard.
The blanket I have in this post is my PediPocket. This thing is amazing and I love it for so many reasons: It’s leopard, it’s fuzzy, and the best part… it keeps your feet trapped so they don’t slip out. Yup. It’s designed for everyone (like myself!) that hate having their feet not inside the blanket. It’s looped on one end and you can put your feet inside so they don’t get cold. This blanket is on my couch with me every day and I put it in my car too for on the go when I’m cold or outside. P.S. This would be a great gift to someone this holiday season, they’re currently doing a promotion until Sunday: Buy 2 get one half off OR Free priority shipping with code: FREESHIP.
A good read or devotional. The second way I like to relax is to zone out into a good read or if you’re religious, a devotional. I wanted to share my absolute favorite devotional right now that really helps me stop stressing about little things, especially when it comes to my blog, and just be thankful for where I’m at and tell God my dreams. This is the book I read and it’s the perfect devotional for all entrepreneurs, business owners, and big dreamers. I feel like this book speaks to me in every way possible and it’s done a lot for my mind and soul. I couldn’t recommend it more!
A long shower, face mask, and diffuser on. Is there anything better!? A pamper night is always the best way to relax. Put your phone and computer down, do a hair mask, take that shower or bath (I hate baths!), and put some lavender oil into your diffuser to get into ultimate relaxation mode.
A drive. Freshman year when I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay at Tech, my friends and I would go on late night drives. We would drive and listen to music for like 45 mins. Now, today, I don’t have time to do that or stay up that late anymore, but maybe I had a long day and I’ll take the longer route home. Turn up my music and drive through nearby neighborhoods to collect my thoughts and relax before going home to more work. This always puts me in such a good mood, I don’t know why!
Write in some way. If you hate writing, this may not be for you… but in some ways it can be. When I write a blog post I get to zone out and talk about things I love. This is so relaxing for me. Maybe I’m out of ideas, so I’ll grab my journal and just write about my day, my hopes and dreams, and anything bothering me. I also find creating to-do lists relaxing…weird right?! But being organized is the best thing for me so sometimes I find joy in writing out a grocery list or things I need to do/shoot for the week. If you aren’t a writer, text. Yes I know phones can be stressful BUT, don’t get on social media. Think about your closest friends and family and sit on your bed or couch and text each of them a little something about how you miss them/love them/ hope their day is going well. Not only does this make you feel connected to your close ones but it puts a smile on their face and that’s priceless. I love taking the time when I’m relaxing to catch up with friends. No social media, just texting about my life or theirs.
It’s important to find time for yourself each week to relax, take a deep breath, and thank the Lord for your blessings. I hope y’all liked reading about how I relax!
