TGIF!!!!
Who else is so happy it’s the weekend?? I’m leaving again this weekend for a girls trip to Austin! I love weekends away so I’m excited. We’re going to float the river on Monday for Memorial Day too so it shall be a fabulous weekend. Praying for clear skies and a safe trip.
For those of you that don’t know, I have three jobs although I get paid for two of them. Over the years I’ve learned to balance my life really well. Especially in college when I had two jobs, a sorority, friends, and school. Things get crazy. I have to constantly tell myself when to step away from my phone or laptop and take at least an hour to myself. I get lost in the busy-ness and constantly neglect my own needs and health. But what can I say, I love to stay busy!
Working three jobs is quite the challenge but I love it. Being the owner of this blog, it’s a lot like owning my own business. I like to think of it as a start-up and every day I’m looking for ways I can enhance and further my brand. Alongside that, I run a companies social media, and then I am also a PR intern for a travel startup. I have to go ‘into’ work a lot or go to meetings and I am always having to dress appropriate to each occasion. I love dressing business casual but putting my own style and touch to each outfit. Since we are entering the lovely summer time, I thought I’d share a quick way to spice up your business wardrobe according to the season. This is great if you are in college and have a summer internship, or even if you are a mom to three teenagers and wanting to get some fashion advice to feel great when you are headed into work.
So, first. This dress. I fell in love with the neon color. What’s great about it is that it’s work appropriate. My shoulders are fairly covered but still allow me to breathe on a 100 degree Texas summer day as well as the collar and fit of the dress compliment your body without making you feel uncomfortable at work. This dress is from thredUP and they offer you a wide variety of fashion for a great price. It’s like an online consignment store where you can buy like-new clothes for cheap. Although, it’s not like your consignment store down the street, it’s BETTER. They have such awesome styles as well as bright colors to take your closet from drab to fab. I don’t really like to spend a lot of money on work clothes because well… it’s work. So, thredUP was perfect to allow me to afford my fashion style for a work environment.
Adding a bright statement piece, like this dress, and then adding your touch of accessories and shoes can make your business casual look extra fancy and in trend. I wrapped a denim shirt around me to define my waist as well as to have because it gets SO COLD at the office I work at. I kept the bright color scheme going with my favorite comfy orange sandals (you may have to wear heels to your work, swap your nude heel for a bright orange or hot pink pair) and topped the outfit off with this gorgeous navy teardrop necklace. Whether you’re a tom boy or girly girl at heart, you can always take a basic work outfit and spice it up. It will make you feel great about yourself all day as well as put you in a positive mood to power through your day of work.
I hope y’all found this post helpful, and I’ll leave all outfit details below as well as other thredUP pieces for the summer that would be great for work.
